Lesson Information
We offer 1 hr private or semi-private English Lessons for ages 6- adult here at the farm on one of our ponies or horses. You may also take lessons at your place on your own pony or horse. Our specialty is English with a dressage background and jumping. We offer Western Pleasure lessons as well if requested only with your horse.
We are not fancy but family friendly and safe. We teach safety in an environment that is more like what most people have when they own a horse. You will learn to ride safely as well as arena etiquette.
We require safety helmets worn at all times as well as a heeled boot or shoe. English breeches/jodhpurs boots required when riding English.
This is to be considered when choosing us for your lessons. We have over forty years experience with horses and ponies of many different breeds and disciplines. You will get quality instruction at a fair rate. We specialize in showing Welsh Ponies and Cobs but at this time do not offer showing. We fit the pony to the rider. This is not always based on size but experience and level of the rider as well as the fit physically with the pony. We are a PONY farm. So expect that your child will be on ponies.
You can expect at your first lesson an evaluation of what you know or don't know about horses. This is for your safety and to see where we can start as some may be new to riding or you may need a refresher. Each lesson will involve safety, grooming, riding(in most cases) and horsemanship and ground work as well as care for your horse/tack after each lesson.
After your first lesson you will decide on a set time with your instructor. You will also be expected after your first months lessons to come to each lesson with riding attire as in jeans, jodhpurs or breeches, paddock or tall boots and half chaps if necessary. It is highly recommended to have your own helmet. You will be expected to give 24 hour cancellation notice or lose that lesson. No exceptions! Emergencies you will be given a chance to make up that lesson in a group. Sickness does not constitute an emergency but will be taken into consideration.
Lesson money is due at your first lesson of the month whether or not you have a make up lesson to do. Lesson money will be late after your first lesson of the month or the 5th day of the month whichever comes first. Late fee of $35 will be added for your months lessons. There are plenty of opportunities to make up lessons. We have this policy to better serve you. Thank you for your cooperation in advance!

Is my child ready for riding lessons?
- Here are a few questions to ask yourself and your child before considering riding lessons:
- Can they support the weight of a helmet
- Can your child maintain focus and attention for at least 30 min
- Can your child sit in a chair for 15 min maintaining proper posture
- Can they follow simple 2-3 step directions
- Can you discern from child if they have a true interest in learning to ride as opposed to a pony ride. For example: are they willing to pick up manure after their horse, or tack up their horse and pick their horses feet out, etc.
